ink options

Please note that monitors distort colors to some degree. These colorway options show, as closely as possible*, what the colors will look like.

more info

Please note: due to the nature of monitors, we can't guarantee that any color will look exactly as it's represented online. If you need to see a paper or ink swatch before making your decision, please email us with your name and address and swatch preference, and we will arrange for a swatch to be sent out.

printing options

letterpress printing:
Letterpress printing is a beautiful, archaic form of printing which is labor- and time-intensive, as it requires the printer to set metal type or a plate in the press by hand, and then “pull ”each printed piece, one by one, off the press once the inked type has struck the paper. The metal type or plates push into the paper, creating an indentation which can be felt when you run your finger along the type or artwork. The one-of-a-kind nature of this printing process results in a definitive texture, as well as slight irregularities in the apperance of the ink. Much like the irregularities found in raw silk fabrics, these irregularities are considered part of the character of letterpress printing.

offset lithography:
Offset lithography is a cost-efficient form of printing which is often used in business communications, pre-printed stationery products (such as party invitations that you fill in), and greeting cards. This form of printing uses a rubber blanket which lifts the ink from a metal plate and then pushes it onto the surface of the paper; this ink transfer is what gives the printing method its name. When offset lithography is used, the ink dries flat on the surface of the paper for a crisp, elegant look.

Please note that not all collection designs are available in both letterpress and offset; some designs were specifically created with one printing method in mind, and are best suited to only that printing method. You'll find this information under the "details" heading of each announcement.

Bespoke pieces may be designed with a specific printing method in mind as well, and are not limited to these two options. Additional options include engraving and screen printing.

*All monitors show color slightly differently; we've made every effort to represent our palette accurately, however the final color may differ slightly on printed pieces due to this inconsistency between monitors.
