Each of our bespoke projects is created on an individual basis, incorporating details and elements which are unique to each couple. Therefore, our process begins with a consultation.
the consultation
Conducted either in person or by phone, this half-hour to forty-five minute consultation gives us the chance to learn all about your wedding - from the venue's special features to the reason each decision you've made to date is important to you. We also listen for the things which will make an invitation perfect for you - colors, details, and information that will each contribute to a feeling that this invitation, when opened by friends and relatives, will clearly reflect your taste, values, and your wedding.
You'll want to have some basic information ready prior to the consultation, so that we understand the size and scope of your stationery suite, as well. This information includes which stationery pieces you'd like to include (whether you'd like us to handle absolutely everything from the save the date to the farewell gift, or just a portion of the stationery), and the approximate number of suites you'll need. If you've already discussed wording for the invitations, we'd be happy to have that information as well, although it's not strictly necessary at this early juncture.
the proposal + estimate
After the consultation, all of the information you've given us is reviewed and processed. We then write up a proposal, detailing all of the information from your consultation and outlining the design options and material components of your stationery suite, followed by a range of estimated cost.
This document is generally several pages long, and we will deliver it in PDF format to your email address.
Within the document, your stationery suite is priced with a range to allow for the maximum flexibility within your preferences. For example, if we discuss your love of letterpress during the consultation, the proposal and estimate will provide a cost range which will allow us to choose a paper from the several we use that provide the most beautiful letterpress impression, in the weight you prefer.
Although we will create a proposal and estimate based upon your wedding and preferences, our bespoke stationery begins at $1000.
the contract
At the end of the proposal and estimate is a two-page contract, allowing you to sign and send it in immediately if the proposal meets your approval. The first page is a simple document which allows you to indicate your final preferences for the pieces to include in the suite, the quantity of suites, and final color and printing method choices. Billing and shipping information, is also a part of this page. The second page outlines our bespoke stationery policies, which you will need to read, sign, and date. Once we've received the contract and 50% non-refundable deposit from you, we begin the serious work of the design process.
design
The design process is a collaborative one, and the time required often varies. In most cases, between 3 and 5 weeks are necessary to truly perfect a stationery suite. (Production, which occurs after the design process is complete, requires additional time).
You'll first receive three to five design concepts for the invitation (or the save the date if we're beginning with that piece) approximately 7 to 10 business days after the contract and deposit are processed. From there, we work with your feedback to further refine the layout of each piece of the stationery suite, until each is perfect.
You'll then receive a Proof Copy, which details the design, materials, and quantity for each piece.
production
After the signed Proof Copy is returned to us, we begin production. This part of the process can also vary widely, but most often requires between 4 and 8 weeks. We will do as much or as little of the assembly as you request, up to and including calligraphy services and postage application and/or delivery.
